Geo-Fencing - What is it?

Geo-Fencing is the practice of targeting a customer when they enter a geographical boundry. 

A customer will receive a message, coupon, sale or alert when they drive or walk within a predefined location. This can be a zip code or larger, or even down to a single building. 

How can it help my business?

Numbers don't lie:

  • A full 72% of people say they'll respond to promotions and messages they receive while within sight of the retailer.

  • Shoppers who received location-based text messages spend 24% more than those who didn't.

  • Dunkin Donuts tested the effectivness of leveraging geo-fencing around competitors and found 36% of people taking secondary action, 18% saving a coupon and almost 4% redeeming them.

  • American Eagle Outfitters used geo fencing to boost foot traffic and and tripled its sales.

  • Taco Bell used competitor geo fencing and  increased their annual sales by 6%
